Aboriginal Homelessness Entry Point

Intake and Assessment form
Ngwala’s Homelessness Entry Point operates across Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri Countries (Bayside Peninsula and Naarm CBD). Our Entry Point supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families who are at risk of or who are experiencing homelessness. We accept referrals via phone, email and ‘Walk Ins’ to either of our sites located in St Kilda and Melbourne CBD.

We currently have Aboriginal Entry Points at the following locations:

We can provide:

Initial Assessment and Planning
Referrals for Housing Options
Victorian Housing Register Applications
Referrals for specialised support and holistic care
Emergency Relief
Advice and Support
Housing First Case Management
Emergency Accommodation (limited to eligibility)
Support for people in Public Housing Tenancies (Aboriginal Tenancies at Risk Program)

The Homelessness Team

The Homelessness Team support men, women, families, and young people who are homeless, or are at risk of homelessness, with access to emergency, transitional and public housing in the Central, Southern and Eastern regions of Melbourne. Specialist Homelessness activities include: 

  • Assistance with applications to Office of Housing, Aboriginal Housing Victoria and other Transitional Housing Management organisations
  • Advocate on behalf of clients between Aboriginal and mainstream Housing/Crisis Services
  • Assessment and Intensive Case Management
  • Provide support at VCAT hearings
  • Crisis intervention
  • Assisting clients to manage rental arrears and eviction issues
  • Aboriginal Private Rental Assistance (APRAP)
  • Budgeting advice
