Robert Nicholls

Robert is a proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Wotjobaluk and Barapa Barapa man. He is the nephew of Pastor Sir Douglas Nicholls MBE,OBE and KCVO, the first Aboriginal Australian to receive a knighthood from the Queen , as well as the first Aboriginal Man to become Governor of South Australia.

Robert is the Hume Regional, Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee HRRAJACC chairman affiliated with the very successful Koori Courts. Robert was also a /Chairperson/Director of the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) for 10 years and life member, joining in 1981.

Robert has also worked in community run organisations such as the Aboriginal Advancement League President and the Aboriginal Housing Board of Victoria, 20 odd years.

Chairperson for Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation YYNAC current, President for Kaiela Art’s in Shepparton current.

Robert is one of the founding members of “Yarnin’ Pictures”, which was developed by his passion to document Elders stories whilst also training young Aboriginals in filmmaking.
