Lucille Atkinson

Lucille is a proud Yorta Yorta woman. She was born and raised in the La Trobe Valley, Gippsland.

Her association with Ngwala goes back to the early 1980’s when she worked for 3 years as a Welfare Officer at Winja Ulupna, back when the centre was in Brunswick.

Lucille’s vast career and wealth of experience includes training at the Cosmopolitan in St. Kilda in relation to the Canadian Indian peoples. Following this, Lucille returned to her country where she worked for 20 years at the local hospital as an Aboriginal Liaison Officer for Mental Health programs.

This is Lucille’s second appointment to the Ngwala Board. Her first appointment was for 11 years, at the conclusion of which she was awarded a trophy of appreciation. In 2022 Lucille was again appointed to the Ngwala Board as a Director and VACCHO representative. Lucille also sits on the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) and is also a member on the Risk Review Committee.

Lucille has always had a passion for working in the Health and Wellbeing, AOD and Mental Health sectors. Although now retired, she continues to assist her community in these areas.
