Doreen Lovett

Doreen is a proud Gunditjmara woman from Western Victoria. She was born and raised in Melbourne and spent most of her upbring in Fitzroy. She now lives with her family in Reservoir.

Doreen was elected to the Ngwala Board in 2020 but has been connected to Ngwala as a community member and past employee for more than 20 years. Doreen has also been a selected participant in projects connected with Ngwala over the years where she has contributed greatly through her qualifications, knowledge and life experiences. In particular, she had a pivotal role in the pilot program Continuity of Care in association with Justice Health.

Doreen’s career began with the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) back in the 1970’s where she worked as one of their first dental assistants.

Doreen has qualifications in Governance. She has also previously worked in the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector with Ngwala as part of Telkaya for 14 years.

Doreen is a Trust Member of the Weeroona Cemetery Trust and was elected for the Treaty Elder’s Standing Group.
