Ngwala Willumbong is proud to be walking alongside the Koorie Academy as a major sponsor over the next three years. 

Koorie Academy is a not for profit organisation based in Naarm that provides culturally-safe basketball programs that engage with the younger generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Their clinics empower youth through the sport of basketball and also have a strong focius on cultural activities that allows kids the opportunity to learn about their own culture and identity. 

We’ve been genuinely blown away by the work of the Koorie Academy, it’s inspiring founder Ricky Baldwin, and especially by all the volunteers who consistenly show up, give their time, and support and guide our young people. That kind of commitment doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s powerful, and it matters.

For our young ones, getting involved in sport like basketball is so much more than just playing the game. It’s about connection, belonging, confidence, leadership, mentoring and having a safe space to grow. For our young ones, access to sport means stronger ties to community, healthier lifestyles, and real opportunities to thrive, both on and off the court.

This partnership is about community supporting community. It’s about standing together and investing in the strength, health and future of our young people.
